Student visa 500

Student visa 500 is mainly designed for international students who want to undertake full-time education and training in Australia. This visa enables a student to stay in Australia for the duration of the relevant course.

With this visa, the applicant

Can remain in Australia for up to 5 years for the purpose of full-time study at an educational institution.

Can bring family members to Australia with them.

From where to apply

The applicant can apply from within or from outside Australia.

In order to get this visa, the applicant must

  • Be 6 years or older.
  • hold Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), or fall in one of the exemption categories
  • include evidence of enrollment in the study along with the student visa application, or else the application will not be valid and cannot be processed.
  • have adequate welfare arrangements in place while the applicant will be in Australia if he/she is under 18 years of age.

Not have any of the following visas like

  1. Domestic Worker (Temporary) Diplomatic and Consular visa (subclass 426)
  2. Temporary Work (International Relations) visa (subclass 403) in the Domestic Worker (Diplomatic or consular) stream
  3. Diplomatic (Temporary) visa (subclass 995) – primary visa holder only. A family member of a Diplomatic (Temporary) visa (subclass 995) can apply for a Student visa in Australia
  4. Transit visa (subclass 771)
  5. Visitor visa (subclass 600) in the Sponsored Family stream or in the Approved Destination Status stream

 

  • Meet English language requirements
  • Have adequate health insurance
  •  Have enough finance for the stay in the country and genuine temporary entry reason and intend to return home after the completion of study in Australia.
  •  Meet health and character requirements.
  • Sign the Australian Values Statement.
  • Not have any outstanding debts with the Australian government.

 

Note: The visa will not be granted if it is not in the best interests of an applicant under 18.
